The Main Street of Yesteryear

When the Congregation was first establishing itself, and even during the first few decades after the Congregation’s birth, the majority of Main Street in downtown Hendersonville was dominated primarily by Jewish store owners.

Today the Main Street of Hendersonville looks much different than it’s counterpart, after many years of families moving, closing, and transferring businesses into different hands.
Here are some of the locations of various establishments that existed in the early years of Agudas Israel up to the 1940s:

The Synagogue is in Red, Locations of Moved Businesses are in Green, Locations of Businesses that Closed or Remained Open in that Location are Blue.
